On-site shredding
How is confidential waste shredded on-site?
Organisations have a legal responsibility to dispose of confidential material separately from normal waste – securely and safely.
At SUEZ, we collect confidential material from customers, then shred and recycle it. We offer two services – each process guaranteeing complete security – provided either on-site or off-site. This provides you and your organisation with the assurance that you are complying fully with data privacy and protection laws when destroying information records.
We handle and destroy your confidential waste – from paper documents and files to CDs, hard drives and uniforms – in full compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
If data is not disposed of correctly, organisations can face large fines from the Information Commissioner’s Office for each breach, or unlimited fines in case of FSA regulated organisations. The reputation of your organisation could also be irreparably damaged should confidential material find its way into someone else’s hands.
Since 25 May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) also applies and your organisation must comply with this legislation, as well as the Data Protection Act.
Both our confidential waste service options provide you with updates on where your documents are in the process, as well as a full audit trail so that you can demonstrate compliance.
On-site shredding takes place at your premises using one of our specialist shredding trucks, while off-site shredding is performed at one of our secure shredding facilities.
To make our service even more secure, we have replaced hessian collection bags with recyclable paper bags. Paper bags eliminate human contact with your confidential documents, as they are sealable, and can be shredded along with the contents of the bag.
You can choose to have your organisation’s confidential waste processed at your premises before the material is taken away for recycling.
Your organisation's confidential waste is collected and processed at your location using our purpose-designed secure shredding vehicle.
When confidential waste is taken off-site for shredding, we ensure that access is closely controlled at each stage of the process – from collection at your premises by our service vehicle, to transportation and destruction in our secure shredding facility monitored by CCTV.
Like our other waste and recycling services, collections of confidential waste can be scheduled to whatever frequency suits your needs, or they can be ad hoc.
You can choose from our wide range of secure storage containers to suit your workplace requirements.
